dc.description.abstract | The results of an experiment to model the behavior of artificial plasma clouds in the ionosphere are presented. The formation of field-aligned structure or striations is frequently observed. The appearance of this structure and its subsequent motion are found to be in substantial agreement with theory. In particular, the ratio of the integrated Pedersen conductivity of the cloud to that of the background through which it moves is found to be an important factor determining the growth rate of the striations. | en_US |
