Temperature dependence of the reaction hydroperoxo (HO2) + hydroperoxo at low pressures
Abstract
The temperature dependence of the self-reaction of HO2, HO2 + HO2 -> H2O2 + O2 (k1) (1), was investigated by detecting HO2 with laser magnetic resonance in a low-pressure flow tube coated with halocarbon wax. Two independent chemical reactions (CH2OH + O2 and F + H2O2) were used to produce HO2 and two calibration procedures were used to determine the concentration of HO2. With 95% confidence limits, k1(T) = (2.0 * 0.6)) X exp[(595 +- 120)/T] cm3 molecule-1 s-1 for the pressure-independent bimolecular channel of reaction 1 from 253 to 390 K, where -d[HO2]/dt = 2k1[HO2]2.
